Must have a basic knowledge of Real Estate legal terminology and be willing to communicate with attorneys about deed issues or providing deed information.
Receives and reviews a variety of reports, legal documents/deeds, surveys, & business correspondence; maintains and updates county and municipal maps which include market area, zoning, tax districts, special service districts and highways.
Knowledgeable of the derivation of deeds and the reading of legal descriptions; conducts research required to answer staff & customer questions on deeds and plats; have basic knowledge of our GIS system.
Must learn how to combine properties/tax map numbers when requested by taxpayer; will learn the criteria for assigning new tax maps; is capable of explaining an answer orally or in writing when problem solving.
Able to work in a busy environment and can prioritize workload; responsible for completing work in a timely manner; is proficient in typing and the use of a computer.
Provides graphic and technical assistance to staff and other county departments; willing to listen and take direction from a supervisor; ability to work with others as a team; understanding of the departmental policies and procedures; performs other related duties as required.
High school graduate with technical training/college work in paralegal, GIS mapping, real estate, and experience in drafting, surveying, and/or mapping; or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for this job.
Must possess and maintain a valid South Carolina Driver's License.
